From the 28 April to 9 May Kazuki TOMOKAWA will on tour : France, Belgie, Holland, Danemark, Sweden & Norway.

Tomokawa's music is as violent and cathartic as anything in the underground rock or free jazz canon. For anyone at all still concerned with the possibilities of words, voice, and acoustic communication, Tomokawa is an unparalleled contemporary touchstone. KAZUKI TOMOKAWA (guitare, voix)

Le folk français n'en parlons pas, mais même le folk anglo-saxon n'a jamais donné un chanteur aussi brûlé. Kazuki TOMOKAWA est un chanteur populaire au Japon, paradoxalement sa musique reste tranchante comme un fil de rasoir, la voix insoumise aux règles du chant policé, dans l'écart et l'éclat. TOMOKAWA sort régulièrement du chant pour le cri, tripes balancées dans le song, chant qui invoquerait " le théatre de la cruauté ". Artaud je sais on en a mis à toutes les sauces, mais c'est d'engagement dans la perte que je parle ici pour TOMOKAWA. TOMOKAWA est la figure jumelle de Kan Mikami, sans aucun doute d'une allure plus distinguée, dandy écorché jouant depuis les années 70, où le folk portait la contestation étudiante. Sa musique est moins influencée par les chansons enka que celle de Mikami peut l'être, elle n'a pas cette proximité avec le blues, le trivial. Sa voix transgresse le velours des arrangements, le satiné des cordes, elle s'arrache à cet écrin acoustique, tendant à l'extrême ses chansons, les brûlant. Tomokawa ne ressemble a aucun autre chanteur, sa musique est un pur moment d'épiphanie et d'angoisse. Mais entre ses chansons poisseuses de mélancolie noire et de violence, Tomokawa raconte à son auditoire des blagues et des anecdotes sur la vie quotidienne, son tragique et son fatum, descendant avec méthode des théières de saké.

Tomokawa est né dans la préfecture d'Akita. Après plusieurs emplois comme garçon d'hotel, manager d'une équipe de basket, journalier ... il commence à jouer dans des clubs de Tokyo. En 1970 il prend son nom d'artiste : Kazuki Tomokawa. Influencé dans un premier temps par les poèmes de Chuya Nakahara et les textes de Osamu Dazai, il commence par écrire des chansons pour la troupe de théatre d'avant-garde Hamidashi Gekijo. Il émerge avec le mouvement de protest folk à la fin des années 60, quand la jeunesse de Tokyo s'embrase contre une société qui les aliène. Il disparaît de la scène folk plusieurs années pour se consacrer à la peinture avant de réapparaître dans les années 80 sur le label indépendant PSF (label culte producteur du free japonais de Kaoru abe, Motoharu Yoshizawa, Masayuki Takayanagi et de la scène psychédélique la plus barrée avec High Rise, Keiji Haino, Fushitsusha, Ghost ...).

Projection en live de photographies en 3 parties avec 2 entractes. La première partie présente "Walking in the Shadow", une série d'images de la Japonaise Kumiko Karino. Ces images d'un Japon urbain ou végétal, issues d'une sorte de road movie laissent une large place à l'animal, au brut et aux sensations plutôt qu'aux explications. Elles inspirent Michel Henritzi, dont la musique est influencée par le blues japonais des années 60 et 70 auquel il ajoute les craquements et les bruits d'amplis. Dans la deuxième et troisième partie il propose une relecture sonore d'images d'une vingtaine de talents reconnus ou inconnus. Ces séries souvent inédites profitent du support de projection dans la grande salle pour sortir au grand jour.
